“Ella es Agua” Choreography, ExpoZaragoza’s Closing Ceremony

On Sunday, the 14th of September of 2008, ExpoZaragoza closed its doors. At 20:00h at the Palace of Congress the closing Ceremony was held in the presence of Their Majesties the King and Queen, the Prime Minister, José Luís Rodríguez Zapatero, hundreds of political representatives from all over the world that were invited to ExpoZaragoza, and other VIP guests. The ceremony was directed by the prestigious dramatist Joan Lluis Bozzo, Dagoll Dagom Company’s director. With the occasion of the act, dancer Tamara Rojo, first dancer in the Covent Garden Royal Ballet in London and 2005 Prince of Asturias Arts Award, performed a Solo Ballet titled Ella es Agua.

The choreography, an eight minute piece, was created ex professo for the Closing Ceremony by the dancer and choreographer Goyo Montero, Director of the Staatstheater’s Ballet in Nüremberg. Water, the main theme at ExpoZaragoza, inspired the artist to create this exquisite piece, where an aquatic entity guided by love, leaves the sea to turn into a woman… and die. The prestigious designer Amaya Arzuaga exclusively designed Tamara’s dress for this occasion. It supposed the most poetic ending for ExpoZaragoza 2008.
